9/11/01 - May we never forget

I went to NYC many years ago, and the group I went with refused to go to the  site of the 9/11 attacks.  For some reason I was excited to go- my bible in my bag and stocked full of tissues.

Me, I went and I prayed- and stood in silence for a long time contemplating life and those lives that were lost that ugly morning.

That day of 9/11 was quite personal to me because    someone I did freelance work with was based out of the trade center and he was expecting their first baby any day now.  Yes, he was one of the victims... I just pray he did not suffer but seeing all the footage- they all suffered.
Other bad things happened at my house that morning but 9/11 in NYC took over with a storm.

Life forever changed.  Life goes on but life was forever changed.
Confusion- disbelief but  put my trust in God that things were gonna be ok.

Yep, I talk to God an awful lot.  He may not answer the way I want but I know He hears and has plans for it all.

On this day in NYC as I stood and silently thought about life and dreams, about how these people just went to work to pay the bills and make a living. Lives stolen, dreams broken- families broken- spirits broken.

I cried and cried.

I was so amazed at the huge  hole where the towers stood and felt empty like that hole.

I cried more.

I soon realized I had been there for almost three and a half hours.  I stopped using kleenex and was actually using my sleeve of my sweatshirt...I know classy one here but at this point I no longer cared.
There was no sun except shining off the American Flag hanging  from another building.

Time stood still.

I  guess I had blocked out the world around me.... I had my long talk with God because I didn't hear the traffic or machinery or anything.  For some reason I remember alot of silence   but  it was just time standing still with me trying to figure out life.

By the way I don't think I will ever  figure life out.... maybe we aren't supposed to figure it out.
